An Australian property developer will build the new $85 Million Christchurch Casino and hotel. The 10 floors hotel will have 200-rooms in it and 600 square metres of conference space.
The property will be known as The Peterborough. At least 400+ cars can be parked at the parking area of the hotel & casino.
The developer of the property is Intro, which has already developed many properties like hotel and casino and Addington Raceway. A major international hotel firm will also be hired by the management of Peterborough to run it.
Brett Anderson, the chief executive officer of the casino said in an interview that it is very challenging for us to complete in a given time.
It would be a great place for visitors and will provide top notch hospitality to the people visiting the casino and hotel, he added.
He also said as we do bring clients from all across the New Zealand to our casino and hence we have good arrangements for them if they want to stay on the doorstep hotels.
Mr. Anderson told reporters casino will take the ownership of land and its car park, but didn’t say anything about who take control over the buildings.
Meanwhile the intro director Mr. Damien Ellis said that everything is sorted out and clear now and we will put the whole scenario towards Christchurch City Council within weeks.
He said the construction of the hotel will take place start from next year and it will complete in 2019.
The casino attracts lots of players not only from new Zeeland but from Australia as well. The casino attracted 724,000 visitors last year and to cater the traffic 490 staffs are in work.
Christchurch Casino was the first casino of New Zealand which was opened back in 1994. The casino is currently owned by Skyline Enterprises, a Queenstown based company.
