Bill to legalize casinos in Georgia is dies in SenateA bill to legalize casino gambling in Georgia is denied by state legislators. The senate has rejected the idea to legalize casinos in the state for now.

According to the press, Georgia senator Sen. Brandon Beach, R-Alpharetta, said on Monday that he doesn’t have enough members to get vote.

Beach said that he will travel throughout Georgia to promote this idea before next legislative session.

Beach said, he is ready to take the initiative and for this he will talk to chambers, rotary clubs and other economic activities generators.

His approval would have two casinos resorts in the state, one in Atlanta and one in another place.

Beach mentioned that if gambling bill allowed in the state, its revenue will support college scholarships as well as rural hospitals.

Calvin Smyre, the representative of Columbus was also surprised by the decision taken by state legislators. He said that the bill did not succeed to get on the floor for the vote.

Smyre also said that he knew that it is going to be a tough time for the bill, but he is surprised that “the bill would not get out of the senate committee”.

Meanwhile religious outfits are opposing any move to legalize casino in the state. Legalizing casino will also hurt south Mississippi casinos which in January attracted 44,000 visitors.
